About
Phuri Lama Sherpa
It is a great pleasure and honor for me, as the Founder and CEO of Adventure Reisen, to welcome you to Nepal, a country of breathtaking Himalayan landscapes, vibrant cultures, warm hospitality, and remarkable traditions.
I was born in Chyangmiteng, a small Himalayan village in the Everest region of Nepal. Growing up in the mountains, I often saw international travelers trekking through the region with cameras, trekking equipment, and large backpacks. Watching them explore the place I called home created a deep curiosity in me from an early age. I wanted to understand their journeys, their way of traveling, and the world beyond the mountains where I grew up.
My childhood was simple and closely connected to village life. During the weekdays, I attended school, while weekends and holidays were spent helping my parents and supporting our family responsibilities. Educational opportunities in my village were limited, so I eventually moved to Kathmandu to continue my studies. While pursuing my education, I also became actively involved in trekking and mountaineering. Balancing both academics and work helped shape my understanding of tourism, business, responsibility, and the importance of creating meaningful opportunities through travel.
In 2010, I completed my Master’s Degree in Business Studies (MBS) from Tribhuvan University in Kathmandu. Alongside my studies, I continued building my experience in Nepal’s tourism industry and spent around 10 years working as a trekking guide. Guiding travelers through different regions of Nepal allowed me to understand the Himalayas not only as my homeland, but also from the perspective of the people who travel thousands of kilometers to experience them.
Over the years, I traveled extensively throughout Nepal to learn more about Himalayan tourism, local communities, and the cultural diversity that makes the country so special. I came to understand that Nepal is much more than its mountains. Every region has its own traditions, languages, lifestyles, and stories, and I believe these cultural experiences are just as important as the landscapes themselves.
I have also worked with different NGOs and INGOs, supporting mountain communities and participating in international projects. These experiences strengthened my belief that tourism should create a positive impact. Travel should not only provide unforgettable experiences for visitors, but should also support local communities, create employment, respect culture, and contribute to the protection of the natural environment.
My journey later took me beyond Nepal. I traveled through several European countries, including Germany, Spain, Belgium, Austria, the Netherlands, Denmark, Italy, and Switzerland. Living and working with people from different cultural backgrounds helped me understand the expectations of international travelers and the importance of professional service, clear communication, reliability, and careful planning.
I have been living in Switzerland since 2020, and my experiences in both Nepal and Europe inspired me to establish Adventure Reisen. My vision is to create a bridge between Switzerland and Nepal and to help travelers experience my country through local eyes.
Having been born in the Himalayas, worked as a trekking guide, studied business, supported mountain communities, and lived internationally, I understand both sides of the journey. I know what makes Nepal unique, and I also understand what travelers expect when they place their trust in a travel company.
Through Adventure Reisen, my goal is to provide professional, responsible, and personalized travel experiences while sharing the true beauty of Nepal its mountains, cultures, traditions, communities, and people.
I have always believed that travel should benefit the destinations we visit. Through our connection with the Phuri Sherpa Foundation, we remain committed to supporting mountain communities and contributing positively to society and the environment.
For me, Adventure Reisen is more than a travel company. It is the result of my life journey from a small Himalayan village in Nepal to Switzerland and a way for me to share the country that shaped who I am.
I warmly invite you to join us and discover Nepal in an authentic and meaningful way.
