These Terms and Conditions govern bookings made with Adventure Reisen, a travel company based in Switzerland specializing in trekking, adventure travel, cultural journeys, tours, and expeditions in Nepal.

 

When you book a trip with Adventure Reisen, your booking relationship is with Adventure Reisen in Switzerland. Travel services in Nepal may be provided by carefully selected local partners, licensed guides, trekking staff, hotels, lodges, transport providers, domestic airlines, government-authorized service providers, and other suppliers.

 

By submitting a booking and accepting these Terms and Conditions, you confirm that you have read and agreed to them.

Adventure Reisen is the contractual contact for trips booked directly through our website, email, telephone, office, or authorized sales channels unless expressly stated otherwise.

 

2. Scope of Our Services

Adventure Reisen organizes and sells travel services primarily between Switzerland and Nepal, including:

• Trekking holidays;

• Mountaineering and expedition programs;

• Cultural and sightseeing tours;

• Adventure activities;

• Customized Nepal journeys;

• Accommodation;

• Ground transportation;

• Domestic flights in Nepal;

• Guides, porters, Sherpas, and support staff;

• Trekking and expedition permits; and

• Other travel services specified in the individual itinerary.

International flights between Switzerland and Nepal are included only where specifically stated in the relevant package.

 

3. Swiss Package Travel Law

Certain Adventure Reisen bookings may qualify as package travel under the Swiss Federal Act on Package Travel (Pauschalreisegesetz).

Swiss package travel legislation generally applies where a qualifying combination of travel services is sold as one travel arrangement.

Where mandatory provisions of Swiss package travel law apply, those provisions take precedence over any conflicting provision in these Terms and Conditions.

 

4. Customer Money Protection

For package travel falling within the Swiss Package Travel Act, Swiss law requires the relevant organizer or contracting intermediary to secure customer payments and, where applicable, repatriation in the event of insolvency.

5. Booking

A booking is considered confirmed when:

1. Adventure Reisen receives the required booking information;

2. The applicable deposit or payment has been received; and

3. Adventure Reisen sends written booking confirmation.

Submitting an inquiry or booking request alone does not guarantee availability.

The person making a booking on behalf of multiple participants confirms that they have authority to provide the participants' details and communicate the applicable booking conditions to them.

 

6. Prices

Unless otherwise stated, prices published by Adventure Reisen are shown in Swiss Francs (CHF).

The booking page, quotation, or confirmation will clearly specify what is included and excluded.

Depending on the package, the price may include:

• Accommodation;

• Meals specified in the itinerary;

• Ground transportation;

• Nepal domestic flights;

• Trekking guides and support staff;

• Trekking or conservation permits;

• Airport transfers;

• Activities specifically listed; and

• Local taxes or service charges where specified.

The total price payable and mandatory charges should be disclosed in accordance with applicable Swiss price-display requirements.

 

7. Services Not Included

Unless specifically listed under the package's Cost Includes section, the price normally does not include:

• International airfare;

• Nepal Tourist Visa;

• Travel insurance;

• Personal expenses;

• Optional excursions;

• Alcoholic or additional beverages;

• Meals not listed in the itinerary;

• Personal trekking or climbing equipment;

• Excess baggage;

• Tips and gratuities;

• Emergency evacuation;

• Medical treatment; or

• Costs arising from circumstances outside the booked itinerary.

The package-specific inclusion and exclusion list always takes priority.

 

8. Deposit and Final Payment

The required deposit will be communicated before booking.

Deposit: 20% of full payment
Final payment deadline: 5 days before the trip 

Certain services such as domestic flights, expedition permits, restricted-area permits, or specially contracted accommodation may require earlier or non-refundable payment.

Payments must be made using the payment methods approved by Adventure Reisen.

 

9. Cancellation by the Customer

Customers wishing to cancel must notify Adventure Reisen in writing.

Cancellation charges will be calculated according to the cancellation conditions disclosed before booking and included in the booking confirmation.

Costs that have already become non-refundable may include:

• Airline tickets;

• Nepal domestic flights;

• Trekking permits;

• Expedition permits;

• Restricted-area permits;

• Hotel deposits; and

• Payments already committed to suppliers.

The applicable cancellation schedule should be published or supplied to the customer before the booking becomes binding.

 

10. Changes Requested by the Customer

We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate requests to change:

• Travel dates;

• Accommodation;

• Routes;

• Participant details;

• Flights; or

• Other arrangements.

Changes are subject to availability and may result in additional charges.

Some issued permits and airline tickets cannot be transferred or changed.

 

11. Changes by Adventure Reisen

Travel in Nepal, especially in the Himalayas, requires flexibility.

Adventure Reisen may reasonably change an itinerary when necessary because of:

• Weather;

• Snow conditions;

• Landslides;

• Avalanches;

• Road closures;

• Flight disruptions;

• Government restrictions;

• Permit restrictions;

• Health or safety concerns;

• Natural disasters; or

• Other circumstances affecting safe or practical operation.

Where possible, we will provide a suitable alternative of a comparable standard.

 

12. Cancellation by Adventure Reisen

Adventure Reisen may cancel a trip where operation becomes impossible or materially unsafe, including because of insufficient participation where a minimum group size has been clearly communicated.

Where mandatory Swiss package travel rules apply, customers retain the rights granted to them under those rules.

Any refund, alternative trip, travel credit, or other solution will depend on the booking circumstances and applicable mandatory law.

 

13. Force Majeure and Extraordinary Circumstances

Adventure Reisen cannot guarantee that every itinerary will operate exactly as planned.

Events beyond reasonable control may include:

• Earthquakes;

• Floods;

• Landslides;

• Avalanches;

• Extreme weather;

• Epidemics or pandemics;

• Political disturbances;

• Civil unrest;

• Strikes;

• Border closures;

• Government decisions;

• Flight cancellations;

• Airport closures; and

• Major disruptions to transport infrastructure.

We will take reasonable steps to assist affected travelers, but additional services outside the contracted package may result in additional costs where legally permissible.

 

14. Nepal-Based Partners and Suppliers

Adventure Reisen is based in Switzerland, while many services forming part of a Nepal journey must necessarily be delivered locally.

We may work with:

• Licensed Nepalese trekking agencies;

• Local guides;

• Mountain guides;

• Sherpas;

• Porters;

• Hotels and trekking lodges;

• Domestic airlines;

• Vehicle operators;

• Rescue providers;

• Permit authorities; and

• Other local service providers.

Use of local suppliers does not change the customer's contractual relationship with Adventure Reisen where Adventure Reisen is the organizer of the booked package.

Mandatory provisions of the Swiss Package Travel Act remain unaffected where applicable.

 

15. Passport and Visa Requirements

Travelers are responsible for ensuring they hold a passport valid for their journey and the appropriate Nepal visa.

Adventure Reisen may provide general visa information but cannot issue or guarantee a visa.

The final decision on admission to Nepal rests with Nepalese immigration authorities.

 

16. Trekking and Expedition Permits

A Nepal Tourist Visa is different from a trekking, conservation, restricted-area, climbing, or expedition permit.

Where permits are listed as included in your Adventure Reisen package, they will normally be arranged in Nepal using the documents you provide.

You may be required to provide:

• Passport copies;

• Photographs;

• Travel insurance information;

• Emergency contact details; and

• Other documentation required by Nepalese authorities.

 

17. Travel Insurance

Comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended and may be mandatory for particular Adventure Reisen trips.

For Himalayan trekking, climbing, and expeditions, insurance should cover the activities and maximum altitude of your itinerary.

Appropriate insurance may need to include:

• Emergency medical treatment;

• Helicopter evacuation and rescue;

• High-altitude trekking;

• Mountaineering, where applicable;

• Repatriation;

• Trip cancellation;

• Trip interruption; and

• Baggage loss or damage.

The traveler is responsible for ensuring their chosen policy provides adequate coverage.

 

18. Health, Fitness and High Altitude

Many Adventure Reisen programs take place in mountainous and remote environments.

Travelers are responsible for selecting a trip appropriate to their physical condition, experience, and abilities.

High-altitude travel carries risks, including Acute Mountain Sickness and other altitude-related conditions.

Travelers should seek appropriate medical advice before undertaking a high-altitude or physically demanding trip.

 

19. Adventure Travel Risks

Trekking and mountaineering in Nepal involve inherent risks.

These may include:

• Difficult terrain;

• Rapidly changing weather;

• Altitude;

• Snow and ice;

• Rockfall;

• Landslides;

• Avalanches;

• River crossings;

• Remote locations;

• Limited medical facilities;

• Transport disruptions; and

• Delayed emergency response.

Adventure Reisen and its local partners take reasonable measures to manage risks, but no mountain or adventure activity can be completely risk-free.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded under applicable Swiss law.

 

20. Authority of Guides and Trip Leaders

During the trip, travelers must follow reasonable safety instructions from Adventure Reisen representatives, local guides, mountain guides, expedition leaders, and other responsible personnel.

A guide or trip leader may modify or discontinue a participant's activity when reasonably necessary to protect:

• The participant;

• Other travelers;

• Staff;

• Local communities; or

• The safe operation of the trip.

 

21. Flights and Transportation in Nepal

Mountain flights and road transport in Nepal can be affected by weather and local operating conditions.

Domestic flights, including flights serving mountain airports, may be delayed, rerouted, or cancelled.

Adventure Reisen will provide reasonable assistance when disruptions occur but cannot guarantee third-party transport schedules.

 

22. Traveler Conduct

Travelers must respect:

• Local laws;

• Nepalese customs and traditions;

• Local communities;

• Fellow travelers;

• Guides and staff;

• Religious and cultural sites; and

• The natural environment.

Serious misconduct, violence, harassment, illegal behavior, or repeated refusal to follow safety instructions may result in termination of participation.

 

23. Complaints

If a problem occurs during your trip, please notify your Adventure Reisen representative or local guide as soon as possible so that we have an opportunity to resolve it.

Unresolved complaints should be submitted to Adventure Reisen in writing using the contact details provided on our website.

 

24. Liability

Adventure Reisen performs its obligations with reasonable professional care.

Our liability is determined by the contract, applicable Swiss law, and, where applicable, the Swiss Federal Act on Package Travel.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or restrict mandatory consumer rights or liability that cannot legally be limited.

 

25. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

The contractual relationship with Adventure Reisen is governed by Swiss law, subject to mandatory consumer-protection rules.

Mandatory rights concerning the competent court for consumer contracts remain unaffected. Swiss federal guidance notes that consumers may have statutory jurisdiction rights that cannot be waived in advance.

 

26. Changes to These Terms

Adventure Reisen may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time.

The version applicable to your booking will normally be the version provided or made available when your booking was concluded, except where changes are required by mandatory law.
